Punk Chic Wedding At Hotel Salem - Salem, Ma.

Bride and Groom on stairs at Hotel Salem in Salem Massachusetts

This chic punk rock wedding at the Hotel Salem in Salem, Massachusetts broke wedding norms, just as you would expect.

Ceremony music was a live performance form the Groom’s sister which added a personal and on brand touch to this wedding that was full of musicians and music lovers.

They opted to forgo the standard wedding reception sit down dinner and instead hosted a cocktail style reception. The food and drinks kept flowing in this modern industrial style venue. When it came to parent dance they opted to do a joint dance (I love this idea BTW). Mike danced with his mother and Brit danced with her father to Bruce Springsteen - When You Need Me. Halfway through the song Mike and Brit split off to dance together, while the other parents joined their spouse so all three couples could dance together!

We brought in our low profile lighting into the Hotel Salem. We used warm white uplighting to help soften the space during the ceremony and early portion of the evening. Additionally we use pin-spotting to highlight a few areas around the space. When it was time to switch to dancing we turned on our LED pixel tubes that we had installed in the ceiling along with some overhead wash lighting to bathe the dance floor in color. Finally we had our Dance Floor Selfie Station to add to the fun!

Personal Note: This wedding was a super special one for me! I’ve known Mike for years through music. We never toured together, but somehow always end up on the same shows in random places across the country whenever I was out with any of the bands that I worked for. We made sure to sprinkle in some special songs. I also created a mashup of Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Frank Turner - Four Simple Words
